Frequently Asked Questions

What brand of makeup do you use?

I am not exclusive to any one brand, I try anything and everything to put together a kit that has the best of the best of several brands. From Mac pallets to Smashbox foundations, my kit has a little of everything! I have very sensitive skin myself, so I always try out my collections on my own skin before using anything on a client, if I react, the product doesn’t make it to my kit.

How long will makeup application take?

It depends on the look you are going for, but typically for wedding or glamour makeup I like to budget 45 minutes for each person – usually it won’t take me that long, but I like to give myself a little wiggle room for wedding day happy tears, and unexpected circumstances.

Do you have other makeup artists that work with you?

Currently Smudge Makeup is just one artist at this time, although I do have a prep girl that I have employed at times to help me for a particularly large wedding. She will prep the skin, measure strip eyelash length, and apply primers so I can just jump in with the color application.

Do you offer Group Discounts for Weddings?

Unfortunately no, I do not. Whether I’m doing 1 bridesmaid or eight, I still use the same amount of product and do the same amount of work on each girl to ensure a perfect look is achieved.

Do I need a makeup trial for my Wedding?

I strongly suggest booking a trial as that’s the time when I figure out the right colors for your complexion, as well as deal with any skin sensitivities or allergies you might have. I want you to look your absolute best on your wedding day, and I would rather not “wing it” on a day you will have documented in photos for many years to come! At the trial we can try as many looks as you would like until you are 100% satisfied with the look that you will wear down the aisle.

What is the travel fee for?

The $30 travel fee for Edmonton area makeup jobs cover gas, mileage, any parking fees that may occur, and the convenience of me packing up my kit and coming to you. If you would prefer to not pay this fee you are welcome to come visit me at my home studio, or to the Candy and Cream Boudoir Studio where I work most weekends. A larger fee is calculated for locations outside Edmonton.

Who is Melissa Raimondi?

Melissa is my business partner and one of my best friends. She is the owner of Candy and Cream Boudoir (to which I am her exclusive hair and makeup girl), and is quite possibly the best photographer in Edmonton (I might be biased, but seriously, look at her work – you’ll agree!). Melissa specializes in boudoir, family, couples and engagements. She’s also an extremely accomplished artist - painting and sketching the most incredible work! I’m her #1 Fan! I’m spoiled rotten that I get to work with her!
